Second contract is a sharecropper agreement between Donald Graham and freedmen Thomas Parks, Silas Armstrong, Emma Armstrong Soloman King, Geoge Washington, and Jack Fletcher.

The collection consists of a plantation book of John B. Lamar, for his plantation in Sumter County, Georgia, from 1847-1880. The book includes lists containing names of enslaved people; a diagram of crop rotation for cotton, corn, oats, and rye; a map of the plantation; an inventory of plantation items; tax accounts; and food supplies. During the Civil War, entries become less comprehensive. From 1867-1872, entries list the date, employee's name, and item charged to the account, primarily food.

The collection consists of letters between Dr. E. J. Eldridge and his wife, Emma, while he served as a surgeon with the 16th Georgia Infantry Regiment and later with Cobb's Legion from 1861-1865. His letters tell of his duties and they often give descriptions of battles, including Fredericksburg in Virginia, and the Atlanta Campaign (1864). Emma's letters discuss family and political issues.

The collection consists of the papers of Shepherd Green Pryor from 1837-1863. The majority of the collection contains letters (1861-1863) between Green and his wife, Penelope, while he served with Company A of the 12th Georgia Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The letters are mainly from camps in Virginia while the Company fought through the Valley Campaign, the Seven Days Battle, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. The collection also includes deeds, photographs of and biographical material on the Pryor family of Sumter County (Ga.), and a typescript of most of the Civil War letters.
